WHAT DOES WOMAN OF VALUE MEAN TO YOU?
My mother. We lost my father when I was two, and my mom always saw what could be. She was an entrepreneur and instilled that drive in us.
YOUR PIVOTAL MOMENT IN CREATING LEADERSHIP FOR LASTING CHANGE
When I was young, there was a lot of stress and chaos in my life. I didn’t feel safe and had to depend on myself at the age of five. I saw the effect my uncle had on the audience, and I remember seeing everyone elated. I remember thinking I wanted to lift up others. That has stuck throughout my life.
I had a wakeup call in my thirties when I was working in Hollywood. I created a media company and created high quality content, and it was driven by my desire to uplift others.
Five days after the lockdown, Sony Pictures called and asked me to film something virtually in Dallas. It was a virtual comic con. We had sixty-eight thousand people attend. We won an award.
I moved to Florida to work for an entrepreneur. After I turned fifty one, I realized I wasn’t fulfilled. I had a lightbulb moment. I realized I wanted to help others all of the time. I wanted to work for myself again to cultivate change and create more leaders in the world. I began retreats, because I like to travel.
THE FUTURE
I lead about eight retreats a year, and I create a platform for other leaders who want to do retreats and events. I want to create a bigger platform to train more leaders to take responsibility for different groups.
THE LIGHTNING ROUND
I used to think I wasn’t soft enough.
What was the #1 thing holding you back from becoming a woman
of value? Self-confidence to recreate in my fifties.
What’s the best advice you can give to a woman who wants to
become more empowered? If you can help one person, you’re expert enough to help many.
What advice would you give to your younger self? Don’t worry about what others think and don’t do drugs.
What’s something people get wrong about you? They think I’m tough and my motives are wrong.
How would you like to be remembered? As the one who helped them.
