WHAT DOES WOMAN OF VALUE MEAN TO YOU?
She knows her value. She has agency and lives and embodies it through her choices with time, finances and resources. She knows she matters.
YOUR ‘AHA’ WOMAN OF VALUE MOMENT
The early part of my career I was fortunate to have great sponsors who saw my value and opened doors and opportunities for me. When I moved on from that role to a different one, I thought if I worked hard, there would be compensation for my efforts. That didn’t happen. I didn’t get the same results, so I questioned my own value.
I was in a funk for a number of years. I doubled down and worked harder, which didn’t help. So I resorted to self-care. I went back to the gym and took care of myself, which helped me get back in touch with myself. I realized the self-care was going well, but since my work wasn’t going well, my value wasn’t hinged on that job. Then I started my own path.
THE PRESENT: Following the path to her authentic self
Today I’m an executive coach, working with executive and aspiring executive women. I work with them one-on-one, in person, virtually, and in groups in the corporate world. I am trying to affirm women’s stories and give them the encouragement and guidance to help them get where they are trying to go.
THE FUTURE
I’m networking to try to explore different ways to reach women. I want to do more public speaking and workshops, expanding what I do so I can make a bigger impact so women can make a bigger impact.
THE LIGHTNING ROUND
I used to think I wasn’t witty enough.
What was the #1 thing holding you back from becoming a woman of value? Myself. Limiting beliefs.
What’s the best advice you can give to a woman who wants to become more empowered? Be still. Listen to yourself.
What advice would you give to your younger self? Believe. Follow the winks in your life.
What’s something people get wrong about you? I used to hear that I was intimidating when I was younger, but I am approachable.
How would you like to be remembered? I’d like to be remembered as someone who is respectful and compassionate, open-minded enough to hear someone else’s journey.
