S4 EP 2: Dawn Kohler – Believe In Yourself

We are all women of value, but many of us have a perceived sense of inadequacy or unworthiness. We strive so hard to prove our value. The irony is we are inherently valuable.

I was striving to prove myself worthy due to trauma in my childhood. I put myself through college selling real estate. I thought I was only as good as my last sale. So I started a computer company and thought that would be more stable. It didn’t pan out and caught up with me.

I was a high achiever, got onto the cover the LA Times, and felt ‘of value’ for about three days. I wondered what to do next to feel valued. One day, I drove into work and couldn’t get out of the car. I wanted to go to work and couldn’t move. A message came to me “this is no longer your way”. I turned around and went home and sunk into a depression.

After two weeks, I heard voices that told me next steps. I needed to heal and find what I was being called to something.

I had blocked abuse from childhood, and I couldn’t see who I was at my core. I let go of shame and guilt. I got back to my root self, a writer. I was pulled to share a greater message.

This process that I’d gone through is happening for everyone. It’s anxiety provoking. It’s rapid evolution which brings turbulence. The more we understand it, the more we can work with it and be gentle with the process. I’m talking with clients about what’s emerging and how to deal with it in their own way.

  • I used to think I wasn’t smart enough.
  • What was the #1 thing holding you back from becoming a woman
    of value? Myself.
  • What’s the best advice you can give to a woman who wants to
    become more empowered? Trust yourself.
  • What advice would you give to your younger self? Don’t worry so much. It’s a good life.
  • What’s something people get wrong about you? That I don’t need help.
  • How would you like to be remembered? As a good mother, writer and wife.
